Comment on a Facebook profile on Serbia’s refusal to recognize Kosovo’s independence
Serbia is a sovereign state and Kosovo is part of Serbia. We reject the blackmail of Serbia by the EU. Serbia will refuse EU membership if it is forced to recognize Kosovo. After talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said this last week, telling reporters literally: “If you think we will recognize Kosovo or that Kosovo will join the UN, that we will get nothing but EU membership, our answer will be no. “He added that Serbia faces difficult times in which the country will face great international pressures.
Lavrov told at a news conference after the talks that the Kremlin will only support a solution to the Kosovo issue that is acceptable to Belgrade and approved by the UN Security Council, where Moscow has a veto.
The SPD agrees with this position. It is unacceptable to threaten the EU with a sovereign state about its foreign policy and national issues and possible reduction of subsidy programs allocated to Serbia in the event of its membership in the EU. Serbia is a sovereign state and Kosovo is part of Serbia! The SPD movement is calling for the Czech government to withdraw its recognition of Kosovo.
